Welcome to Best of the Week, written on day five of what will be a fortnight of home quarantine at Sisters Beach. My only trip out was for the mandatory (negative) COVID test. This week’s writing soundtrack: The Nightfly by Donald Fagan.
In what’s already a privileged life, there are few moments where I appreciated it more than receiving the email on Saturday afternoon that my application to return to Tasmania had been granted. In the month or so I was in Sydney for what I had hoped would be book launch events, Mumbrella360 and the Mumbrella Awards, a lot went awry in New South Wales. Now I’m out, I’ve found myself watching the further deterioration this week with a dose of survivor’s guilt.
