The Indigenous ‘voice to parliament’ is sparking many conversations, yet one question still remains, namely: how might design and marketing need to adapt to become truly culturally responsive? This session provides invaluable insights from Indigenous creative practitioners, who deeply understand the potential risks around the commodification of culture. Given the huge appetite to embrace Indigeneity as a commercial point of distinction, how do we avoid ‘black cladding’, in favour of supporting true agency and voice through the design process?
