An update on Unmade’s plans for 2024 and how you can be part of it (by giving us money)

Welcome to a midweek update from Unmade, in which we share our plans for 2024, and the Unmade Index falls below 600 yet again.
Unmade in 2024 – our key dates and why this is the week to upgrade to a paid membership

Tim Burrowes writes:
People who like to plan ahead are going to love this post.
So are people who appreciate a bargain. Yes, it’s time to make the case for why you need to sign up for our membership offer before the discount ends on December 22.
Our three major (well, they’re major to us) events will all return in 2024. Please pop these dates in your calendar.
First off the blocks is our AI-centred event humAIn.
We ran humAIn for the first time in June examining how the marketing and media industry is innovating in a world upended by AI. humAIn will return to Sydney on Tuesday May 28 with an emphasis on case studies and real-world use of AI and machine learning technologies, and innovations in media and marketing.

Next comes REmade which runs in Sydney for a third time on Tuesday October 1. REmade is Australia’s only conference focusing on the fast-developing sector of retail media. The REmade Awards will return too.

Then comes Compass – which sees our expert panels reflecting on the year just gone and sharing their projections for the year to come. This year Compass ran in Sydney and Melbourne. Compass will once again take place during November.

We plan to expand Compass next year to take in additional cities. Brisbane (which we almost got to this time round), Adelaide, Perth and Tasmania (Hobart? Launceston? I’m torn) are all in the frame. If you’re based in any of those places and would like us to come, we’d love to talk to you.
All three events will once again be curated by Unmade’s head of curated and commercial content Cat McGinn. Anyone wanting to get into early conversations about content can reach her at Cat@unmade.media.
And commercial partnership conversations are being led by Doug Wesney via doug@wethinkmedia.com.au. Trade marketers wanting to lock in plans across the year can also chat to Doug.
Unmade’s paying members get 30% off conference tickets, along with a free pass to Compass. In 2023, that amounted to savings across the three events of $460. The same 30% members discount will also apply to any additional events we add to the calendar.
Which is why it’s worth upgrading to a membership of Unmade while you can. We’ll never offer as big a discount again. If you sign up before December 22, you’ll get 42% off, reducing the annual price from $650 to just $377 a year. That’s also a permanent discount for as long as you remain a member.
And members also get a complimentary copy of my book Media Unmade, with a recommended retail price of $34.95. You can even opt for a rare unsigned copy.
The privileges of membership also include full access to our archive, which goes behind our paywall after two months, and all of our member-only posts.
Perhaps better than all that though, comes the sense of enormous well being that comes through supporting independent journalism using your company credit card.

Unmade Index falls back below 600 again
After clinging on for three days, The Unmade Index fell back below 600 points on Wednesday, signalling a loss of 40% in the value of media and marketing stocks since the start of last year.

Yesterday’s 0.99% fall to 594.4 points was caused by the largest stock on the index, Nine, losing 2.02%. Real estate platform Domain, majority owned by Nine, lost 2.1%.
ARN Media lost another 0.59%, which follows a loss of 9.57% yesterday following a Takeovers Panel setback.

Seven lifted slightly yesterday, rising by 2.08%.
Time to leave you to your Thursday.
Have a great day.
Toodlepip…
