1.524m metro viewers tune in for Novak Djokovic’s eighth Australian Open title win
The Australian Open has wrapped, with 1.524m metro viewers tuning in for the last match, the men’s final between Novak Djokovic and Dominic Thiem. The game pushed just over 2m national viewers and drew 828,000 national viewers in the key advertising demographic of 25-54. 1.589m watched 2019’s men’s final between Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
It wasn’t the only final on TV on Sunday night though. Ten’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here also wrapped, bringing in 884,000 metro viewers for the winner announcement. The announcement was only slightly down on 2019’s final moments which brought in 894,000 metro viewers, but up on 2018 when 804,000 tuned in.
Last night’s thrilling five set men’s final between Novak Djokovic and Dominic Thiem had a TV viewing audience which peaked at 2.672m (metro: 1.943m reg: 728,000). Throughout the match there was a national average audience of 2.019m (metro: 1.524m reg: 495,000) #AusOpen pic.twitter.com/REhbNlK4WT
