1.6m metro viewers tune in for Rio 2016 Opening Ceremony – lowest number since ratings began
Seven’s broadcast of the Opening Ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games pulled in 1.608m metro viewers yesterday morning.
Although a strong number for a Saturday morning, the Opening Ceremony ratings are the lowest since the modern OzTam ratings system began.
However, Seven will argue that more viewers will have watched the Olympics via its online streaming this time round.
The internal numbers that 7 release will be dubious as they will add in their version of streaming numbers – and probably include some of the social views. Considering the app and desktop stream has had major issues for day 1 they will be hard pressed to justify including these figures.
I can’t wait until they start telling us we are not allowed to watch the Olympics, while eating non-official sponsor foods.
