2024 Women in Media National Conference full program announced

The full program for the Women in Media National Conference, to be held on August 9, has been revealed.

Key talking points will include the media’s influence on men’s violence against women, the intersection between press freedom and the law, challenges to media trust, and online safety for women.

Personalities from across the industry will be speaking, including Women in Media’s patron, Ita Buttrose AC OBE, Federal Court Justice Michael Lee, award-winning journalist Liz Hayes, Australian actress and feminist Rachel Griffiths, actress and director Leah Purcell, e-Safety Commissioner Julie Inman-Grant, The Daily Aus co-founder Zara Seidler, columnist and author Jane Caro, and many more.

“The Women in Media National Conference is the one annual event with the power to convene such a diversity of highly talented women working across the media sector – from arts and journalism, PR and advertising, digital content creators, leaders in the business and the movers and shakers and policy makers,” said Kym Middleton, general manager of Women in Media.

“I have attended this event as an audience member before and can vouch for its inspirational and supportive atmosphere,” she continued. “I am now proud to present this program which has been carefully curated by the dedicated Women in Media team to reflect and explore on the issues that our industry has been telling us matter most to them.”

Middleton said attendees will gain new skills in AI, communication and storytelling; valuable contacts; and refreshed motivation.

“It is perfect professional development in an encouraging and supportive environment, as well as being entertaining and a lot of fun!”
