2Day FM needs a full rebrand, claims rival
The owners of 2Day FM should “rip it up and start again” one of their closest rivals has claimed.
The comments from Nova Entertainment’s programming boss Paul Jackson came after 2Day FM delivered a share of the weekday Sydney audience of just 4.2 per cent.
Last year, prior to Kyle Sandilands’ and Jackie Henderson’s defection to Kiis FM, Southern Cross Austereo’s 2Day FM was top FM station. Kiss FM now has nearly double the weekday share of 2Day FM.
I think Paul’s comments are spot on. 2DAYFM is competing with no-one
Any SCA exec needs to be held accountable for one of the biggest radio disasters in 20 years with 2DayFM going from the top station to being so far from competitive.
The breakfast show is being beaten by 2RN???????
Craig. You need to change your comms strategy. You’re not in a battle and you’re not playing in the space of the other 2 hit music stations.
It’s time to admit you’ve got it wrong, you’ve got a massive task ahead of you and restore some confidence that the mgmt team are doing something.
I’m sure the staff are miffed at your comments
Dicko and Sarah for 2DAY breakfast?
And the countdown timer has started for SCA to release their over-inflated online numbers which compare chalk with cheese.
“Don’t look at these numbers – but look at these!”
Is anyone really surprised that 2Day FM are at the bottom? “Breakfast with the Stars”? More like breakfast with a bunch of hasbeens…
Good bye 2day FM Breakfast. Very sad for the lovely people go but a payout will be handy for a while.
If they want to destroy it totally – hire fairfax management!
nova’s numbers aren’t that crash hot either. I think Paul should concentrate on his own product first – nova has been languishing at 6’s and 7’s for a while now. He’s been able to deflect a lot of PR by having a good launch with Smooth
The entire Today network are pinning their hopes on Dan & Maz as the drive show. For some reason they are hailing this pair as the next big thing in radio, and if that’s the case, they are in serious trouble. An awful show with awful announcers and I am yet to find anyone who enjoys them. Word has it quite a few regional stations who syndicate it would rather drop it but are locked into a contract.
Hasn’t nova been #1 under 40 for like forever? Or am I reading the wrong press releases?
