2UE tipped to put John Stanley in breakfast instead of Dicko and Sarah
A signalled shake-up at the Fairfax Radio Network’s struggling Sydney talkback radio station 2UE is expected to see John Stanley move into the Breakfast slot Ian “Dicko” Dickson and Sarah Morice now occupy, Mumbrella understands.
Yesterday 2UE recorded its lowest ever market share in the radio ratings with a 3.2 per cent audience share Monday to Friday, and 4.2 per cent including weekends, the smallest of any Sydney commercial station, leading national content director Clark Forbes to promise a shakeup in the lineup. Competitor 2GB holds a 14.4 per cent share.
Nights host Clive Robertson is also rumoured to be set to stay on from 8pm to midnight since taking the spot temporarily after Murray Wilton left in August.
As the station has yet to confirm its 2014 lineup, there is also speculation they may move popular weekend presenters George Moore and Paul Kidd to a regular weekday slot on the back of the ratings success for their weekend show.
2UE just did not have the batting order to compete in time slots and it takes many many years to develop one
John Stanley is very dull and a recycled announcer so many times at 2UE so good luck with that! . what’s this? change number what? Greg Hywood over at Fairfax, when are you going to start asking questions about the management team running 2UE?
if my memory is right, john stanly has tried and failed at breakfast once before. boring lefty radio. don’t mind good lefty radio like mike carlton. at least he’s got some spark. john stanly has none of that. more good reasons not to bother with 2UE in 14 sad to say.

I’m surprised people claim John Stanley has failed. His current Weekend Breakfast ratings sit at 10.9% which is about three times their weekday audience. Hardly a “failure”.
Best bet would be to put Clive Robertson in the chair and tell him to do what he liked.
Anybody remember how successful he was on Seven’s 11am news show. Irreverent topical humour at it’s best. The rest are a waste of time, shuffling deck chairs springs to mind. And don’t confuse weekend ratings with weekday success, two totally different audiences that mostly don’t cross over. All in all another fairfax fail!
John is a solid performer as is Clive, and I liked Tim Websters show in Mornings. And the Two Murray’s was a cracker, food for thought.
2ue should find a permanent shift for Andrew Voss. Thought he was very good in breakfast shifts this year and had plenty to offer.
Sorry to say, but 2UE has ths stench of death and juggling a few presenters will not fix it. They need a complete change of format. I hope George & Paul are smart enough to realise this and refuse to move to weekdays. They should move to 2GB instead. I understand they are contractors rather than employees.
Whatever you do, UE, don’t take George & Paul off weekends.
Otherwise that good weekend rating will disappear and no-one will know G&P are on weekdays.
Sat and Sun are the only days my radio moves off GB – I am SO sick of little old ladies ringing up about their spotted petunias and dead lawns and the saccarine presenters).
George and Paul are a breath of fresh air (even if they aren’t exactly fresh!!!)
Hey, I like that idea about Clive. A loose cannon is what UE needs to shake up the lethargy.
Dicko just announced – in the dying minutes of his last show – that he and Sarah Morise would be back next year as team, although he didn’t say in which slot. My guess is John Stanley in breakfast, Bocking in mornings with Gary Linnell doing the business show, George and Paul in afternoons, Andrew Voss drive (?), Clive at night, and Dicko with Sarah Morise on weekends.
I switched to 2UE from 2GB a couple of years ago because I couldn’t stand Jones and Hadley, they really stuffed up losing Jason Morrison and letting Mike Jeffreys, David Oldfield go. Clive is priceless, he is by far the best presenter they have at the moment, 2UE’s talkback is DULL
I will not by listening to John Stanley. Listened to Jason and occasionally to Dicko and Sarah. Clive is wonderful to listen. Pity they “lost” Jason and Paul Murray and Mike Jeffreys.
2ue breakfast should be John Stanly. I didn’t care for S&D’o I’d turn it off then turn it on just turn me off.
I would like to say I have no understanding of why Jason Morrison was removed. Top class as is John Stanley. Love listening to both. George and Paul are first class and need more air time. I like Sarah but not Dicko. But I will always listen to 2UE but only when we have quality performers.
