72andSunny’s Wez Hawes makes first major creative hires
72andSunny ANZ’s recently appointed chief creative officer, Wez Hawes, has made his first major hires since taking on the role, with three new creative appointments.
V Wassim Kanaan takes on the role of creative director, while creative duo Hayley Noble and Madi Chan also join, all reporting to Hawes.

Kanaan joins the agency from Dentsu Creative, where he spent nearly three years as creative director. Prior to that, he worked with Hawes at Innocean Australia, and has other experience from The Monkeys (now Droga5), Saatchi & Saatchi, and JWT, among other agencies, under his belt.
He is also the creator of FillThisPage.com, an initiative to support gender equality in the creative industry. The website features the names of over 1,000 women in advertising in an effort to serve as an “ongoing reminder” that the industry must do better to support women in creative roles.
“It’s an incredible opportunity to join an agency with such a legacy globally and momentum locally, as well as a proven ability to create progressive ideas that go well beyond advertising,” Kanaan said in a media release on Monday.
“Many creative agencies say they want to play in culture, 72andSunny actually does.”
Noble and Chan join the indie agency from Havas Host, where they spent over a year as a copywriter and art director duo. The pair bring experience from Razorfish, Happy Media, and Saatchi and Saatchi.
“Continuing to grow as creatives under the guidance of Wez and Wassim is an exciting opportunity for us,” the pair said in the release.
“We are pumped for this next challenge to work on great brands with great people.”
Hawes said all three creatives “embody” the 72andSunny values, as their “collective energy, optimism and passion for ideas is infectious”.
“I can’t wait to see what we do together with the rest of the talented 72 crew and our growing list of client partners,” he said in the release.
The new hires will support the agency with new and existing clients, including the AFL, realestate.com.au, Google, and recently-won Cadillac and Deputy.
