A million reason not to take #YourTaxis
The taxi industry has been fighting for its very survival in the past few months, as it looks to beat off what it would say is the insidious creep of ride sharing app Uber.
While the NSW taxi industry went down the route of posting billboards accusing Uber drivers of being serial killers with their ‘Ridesharing, it’s no better than hitchhiking’ billboard, the Victorian chapter decided an outpouring of social media support was in order.
They asked punters to share their experiences in taxis in the state with the hashtag #YourTaxis. After all, what could go wrong?

You would have to be pretty naive to think that the negative comments come as a big shock to the Taxi industry.
Yes Virginia I’m sure they thought it would be all puppies and love hearts…
Eventually the online bile will run out and some poor person will make a positive comment that gets some traction.
I had to laugh about the offence caused by the graphic child toilet story, he’s just a typical deluded parent not a bad taxi driver
Just been in the US where Uber Black is amazing and Taxi Yellow was late, dirty, and more than twice the price!
Having traveled extensively nationally for work I have to say getting a cab in Melbourne is the worst experience. A cab from the airport fills me with dread. They should come with ebola style outfits. I can’t tell you how many taxis i have been in and felt and deep connection with dogs in cars (aka their head out the window) the difference being that I am trying to prevent asphyxiation from body odour from the driver, smell of the car, vomit on the seat. In Sydney at least we have silver taxis. The drivers have a few years under their belts, know what a shower looks like, and deodorant, plus guess what they actually chat with their clients and seem to enjoy their work. This industry needs competition, it will be all the better for it and some states need it more than others
I totally agree with Karen (11 Nov 15 4:34 pm). The worst three taxi experiences of my life were in Melbourne.
One guy didn’t know where the hotel was (fair enough, that happens), but didn’t speak enough english to take the address details. I had to key it into his GPS navigator myself!
Another guy had such offensive body odour I spent the entire ride with my head out of the window.
Finally another guy chose to ignore his GPS and take me via all the back roads, getting lost, making me late for my appointment and overcharging me.
Taxis definitely need real competition.
