ABC and Nine win election night ratings bragging rights
The ABC won the audience battle for TV coverage of the cliffhanger election on Saturday night.
ABC1 averaged 1.044m from 6.30pm to midnight, according to metro ratings from Oztam.
Meanwhile, Nine won the battle of the commercial broadcasters, averaging 738,000, ahead of Seven’s 578,000 and Ten’s 395,000. SBS averaged 120,000.
So Sky’s coverage was 3rd for the night behind Miss Marple?
Does that qualify it to form a minority government?
“Oh, dear. I’m afraid I’ve put a cat amongst the Inspector’s pigeons.”
Hi Stephen,
Third for the week, rather than for the night.
It’s unlikely we’ll see Sky News getting together with Miss Marple though owing to their wildly differing policies on broadband.
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
I thought the Taiwanese coverage was the best:

I think channel 9 deserves the right to claim the most comedy coverage of election night. That, and being some of the most amateur TV broadcasting I’ve ever seen. Cutting to presenters too early who insist on pointing fingers at the screen, only to have their arm smashed down to the table by a co-presenter.
No sound on some of the pre-records, the petulant nature of their totally biased panel. Man alive, did someone just let a bunch of kids loose with some TV equipment for a few hours? Those presenters must be so proud of what they’ve achieved in life… well done guys… you’re awesome.
Did this video above go to air? Oh man.
I thought it was funny channel 9 aired ‘In The Line Of Fire’ right after its coverage….thats not a suggestive movie now is it?
