ABC modifies promo for Shaun Micallef TV show following complaints

The ABC has been forced to modify an advertisement for Shaun Micallef’s new show after the national broadcaster received some complaints.

Per TV Tonight, an advertisement for Micallef’s Eve of Destruction, depicting an image of a demolished house and a reference to a missile strike, prompted two viewers to contact the network.

The ABC team behind the promotions acknowledged it was intended as a joke but ‘tonally appropriate.’

Following an investigation by the ABC Ombudsman, the missile strike line was removed, and the demolished house was replaced with an image of a construction site.

ABC declined to comment when contacted by Mumbrella.

The new unconventional talk show features the comedian and actor interviewing celebrity guests about what is really important to them; or as he told Mumbrella: “It’s a window into what is important to the person.”

Guests featuring in front of a studio audience include Rebecca Gibney, Stephen Curry, Felix Cameron, Kate Langbroek, Robyn Butler and Jimmy Rees.
