Mystery surrounds ABC radio outage

A number of the ABC’s radio and audio services were down this morning, with the broadcaster unable to shed any light on what caused the mass outage.

The outage was first detected around 8am on Monday morning.

An ABC spokesperson told Mumbrella just before 9am the broadcaster “is aware of an issue … impacting Radio National and other audio services on broadcast and streaming services including ABC Listen”, the broadcaster’s digital streaming app.

The ABC said it was “working to understand and resolve the issue as soon as possible”.

A spokesperson from the broadcaster told Mumbrella that ABC’s emergency services were not impacted during the outage.

As of 11am, an ABC spokesperson confirmed to Mumbrella “the majority of services are back up”. It is believed that technicians have identified the problem, and are currently restoring services.
