ABC TV and Adelaide Fest create $400,000 production fund
ABC TV Arts & Entertainment and the Adelaide Film Festival have created the Hive Production Fund, each contributing $200,000 to support the porduction of “selected arts-based films and documentaries”.
“This fund builds on the partnership that our Festival has been developing with ABC Arts over the past nine years. We greatly look forward to jointly supporting some truly visionary works for the screen,” said festival director Katrina Sedgwick.
The fund is inspired by the inaugural Hive Development Lab, currently taking place in Adelaide. It will assist one-off, “ambitious and audacious” art films for screening at the festival and on ABC TV, and follows several projects in which ABC TV and AFF were co-investors, such as this year’s opening night documentary Mrs. Carey’s Concert, and 2009’s Samson & Delilah.
“We will be calling for ideas that demonstrate a strong vision that can successfully translate arts ideas and stories to cinema and television screens,” explained the head of ABC TV Arts & Entertainment, Amanda Duthie.
Guidelines and application forms will be released soon.
