The ABC was close on the heels of Nine and Seven last night with insights on the election campaign from Gruen Nation, Kitchen Cabinet and The Hamster Decides all rating among the ten most shows.
Gruen Nation was the top entertainment show of the night with 1.179m metro viewers tuning in to watch the Wil Anderson-hosted panel discussion about the election advertising campaigns. And Kitchen Cabinet, in which political journalist Annabel Crabb went to Tony Abbott’s house for dinner, had 921,000 metro viewers making it seventh for the night. Crabb also participated in the Gruen Nation Panel, along with Leo Burnett Sydney CEO Todd Sampson, and Channel Ten’s Russel Howcroft.
The Hamster Decides, from the Chaser team, brought 913,000 metro viewers to ABC1 from 9.15pm to 9.45pm and was eighth for the night.
ABC1 had a 17.2 per cent share of the audience, only just falling behind Channel Nine’s 18.1 per cent share, and Seven’s 19.4 per cent share of the audience. It was one of the national broadcaster’s biggest shares of the year.

Annabel Crabs Kitchen Cabinet was brilliant.
well said Adam. My TV stays on ABC 1 and 2 nowadays. Annabel Crabb is great fresh face for a medium totally soaked in emotion reality overkill.
ABC is delivering some of the most entertaining content this year out of the election.
As a Ten shareholder, I am furious that Russel Howcroft is allowed to appear on Gruen. Nearly 1.2m for Gruen, WHILST the network he is paid handsomely to work on rates 688,000 for a very average, poorly cast drama. Hamlisch Maclennan should put his foot down and stop ridiculous, nonsensical things such as this occurring. Russel, turn 10 around, don’t help a competitors ratings. Is there anyone sensible in Ten’s management.
If you are a Ten shareholder, you ought to be able to spell Hamish McLennan’s name correctly.
