ACMA data shows streamers already propping up the Australian screen industry

A report issued by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) shows that Prime Video, Disney+, Netflix, Paramount+ and Stan collectively spent $313m on Australian drama in the 2024-25 financial year, dwarfing the contribution made by the commercial free-to-air stations and pay TV providers.

The spend is the biggest by streamers on drama since they started reporting to ACMA in 2019-20.

The report shows that the five streamers spent $414m in total, on 4,500 commissioned, co-commissioned, or acquired Australian programs.
