Adam Steward replaces Mark Duffy as Starcom digital lead

Starcom has appointed Hatched Sydney’s Adam Steward as its national head of digital and solutions, following the quiet exit of Mark Duffy last year.

Reporting to Starcom CEO Matt Houltham, Steward will oversee the Publicis-owned agency’s digital and data strategy, as well as product development.

Steward takes over the role previously held by Duffy from March 2020 until mid-2025, although Duffy’s departure was not publicly announced.

Previously head of performance and commerce at Hatched, Steward brings 15 years of experience in ecommerce, performance, search, and digital, with prior roles at Havas Media and APD.

In a press release statement, Houltham said Steward’s “expertise and forward-thinking mindset will be invaluable as we continue to enhance our digital capabilities, particularly in areas such as search, commerce, identity and consulting”.

“His leadership will play a crucial role in deepening client engagement and ensuring Starcom Australia remains at the forefront of innovation,” Houltham added.

The new appointment follows a major win for Starcom at the end of last year, with HBF naming Starcom Australia as its new lead media agency after a competitive pitch process.

Under the partnership, Starcom will manage HBF’s media planning, strategy, and buying across digital and traditional channels, spanning brand and performance, duties previously handled by IPG Mediabrands’ UM.
