ADMA cancels AC&E Awards at last moment
Industry body ADMA has pulled the plug on its 2018 awards just minutes before the final deadline for entries, Mumbrella can reveal.
In a terse email to entrants yesterday afternoon, ADMA – the Association for Data-driven Marketing and Advertising – said the celebration “deserves a broader platform beyond a spectacular gala night”.
The organisation has also removed all reference to this year’s Australian Creativity & Effectiveness Awards from its website. The ADMA awards were renamed the AC&E Awards in 2014.
The move comes less than a week after the conclusion of rival trade body The Communication Council’s Effies Awards which also recognise advertising effectiveness.
Hhmmm,
Do we need any more clues that ADMA has become and irrelevant basket case?…….
That place is an absolute shambles at the moment. The Communications Council must be laughing its arse off.
It’s sad, they have cancelled a lot of advertising contracts and can’t pay their staff. A friend of mine has been waiting for a payment for 8 months! Get your act together ADMA
Didn’t they announce free entry for members this year at the last one – It’s a bit difficult to put on an event with no revenue model….
Rather too many acronyms. Perhaps a little portfolio culling is required?
Didn’t entries close yesterday…..Sounds like they didn’t get enough to warrant running the awards. The only people that ever cared about agency work were Sangster and Eyles and they’ve both jumped ship. Short-sighted ADMA – you’ve lost your cred.
Basket case it is. Near 100% staff turnover in the last 15 months …there are stories galore. It was bad well before the previous CEO ran away.
SMH reporting today that the CEO of AADL was found to have engaged in misleading and deceptive conduct. Not a good look for the organisation
