AFL and news help Seven to a Friday night win
Seven has taken the audience share win on Friday night thanks to the channel’s reliably strong news programming and AFL.
The network aired the game between Essendon and Hawthorn on its primary channel in Melbourne and Adelaide, and on 7Mate in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth to 557,000 metro viewers and 741,000 when combined with regional numbers. 355,000 of those viewers were in Melbourne and 87,000 in Adelaide.

Your charts are wrong – you’ve put the 5pm Chase portion up against Hot Seat’s 5:30pm portion, leading to an unfair comparison
Hi James,
The charts aren’t wrong. It is a list of the 15 most-watched shows by metro audiences on Friday 14 June across all time-slots. They’re just listed in descending order according to the number of metro viewers.
If you WOULD like a direct comparison, The Chase at 5pm on Seven had 390,000 metro viewers (as the chart shows), while the 5pm segment of Hot Seat on Nine had 308,000. This made the 5pm segment of Hot Seat the 20th most-watched show of the day, hence it not making it onto the chart.
Hope that clarifies.
Thanks,

Hi Vivienne
I’m not sure you follow. Look at the chart above. You’ve put the 473k part of Hot Seat in (5:30pm portion), but only the 390k part of Chase (5pm portion), hence misleading. Where’s the 570k part of Chase (5:30pm) above in your graphic?
Hope that clarifies
James
James,
You are right. I did not follow. Now I do, and the table should be displaying correctly. The 570,000 part of The Chase is now displaying properly.
Please let me know if there are any more issues.
Thanks,
Vivienne – Mumbrella
