Alan Jones to remain on 2GB for two more years
Sydney’s most prominent AM broadcaster, and the man who sits at the top of the breakfast radio ratings, Alan Jones, will remain on air on Sydney’s 2GB and Brisbane’s 4BC.
Jones has signed a two-year contract, effective from 1 July.
Jones is still on top of the Sydney breakfast market
The announcement comes despite intense tabloid speculation that the media company – now majority owned by Nine – and the broadcaster would part ways.

honestly, we shouldn’t lose our jobs over a slip of the tongue. that’s an old expression that should never be used and sounds awful these days, but it was clearly something he didn’t intend in a racist manner.
there are far worse examples of definitely racist comments by on air talent that have been barely punished. see McGuire E.
I’m not pro or anti Jones and am not a listener but I would think if I was compiling a list of his ‘sins’ or things that he could/should be stepped down for, that one wouldn’t make the top dozen

As a long time Macquarie radio analyst, since 1974 in fact, Jones is a talent with a view. You don’t have to listen to him, and you should all defend to the end his right to stay on air. He does more good than bad, researchers well, and has a far superior intellect to most other, if not all, others on air.
Couldn’t agree more…it’s about time keyboard warriors grew up and stopped calling for the sacking of anyone who says something they don’t like….they are mere WORDS, sometimes spoken by mistake, often spoken for a particular reason, but deliberately taken out of context and seized on by political adversaries as a pretext to silence an opponent…
To demand that someone loses their livelihood simply for words spoken reveals more about the authoritarian mindset of the digital lynchmob than it does the purported transgressor
…and have you ever noticed that such demands are only made against Conservatives, usually from the Left? when a Progressive puts his/her/their foot in their mouth, you’ll never see a Conservative demand they be sacked.
I guess they figure that freedom of speech is kind of important.
