Alana House to edit iVillage weeks after getting sack for protesting Woman’s Day story
Two months after being sacked for speaking out against a stitch-up by Woman’s Day, magazine veteran Alana House has landed a new role.
House is to be editor of iVillage Australia, sister website to mamamia.com.au.
House lost her job at ACP Magazines in November after she blogged about how Woman’s Day had covered the incarceration of convicted child killer Kathleen Folbigg.
House, a schoolfriend of Folbigg, accused Woman’s Day – which she once edited – of fabricating a story which claimed the prisoner was “so happy in jail”. She was sacked by the magazine company, which has since rebranded as Bauer Media, the same day.
I only skimmed the blog which cost her the job – but it is so completely unsurprising. Everything in those magazines is fake, with fake sources and fake professionalism.
I only wish people knew how fake the circulation was.
Lucky Mia, Alana is the best in the business.
Congrats Alana!
Congratulations to Alana. She will bring a lot of experience and publishing know how to the party. It’s a good hire.
Alana is fantastic. This is certainly a win for iVillage!
Alana is a fantastic talent who has arisen from a shitty situation. Seems sticking to principles doesn’t always end in tears, so that’s heartening.
Everyone knows WD is crap and this just confirms it.
Congrats Alana! I hope and pray that Kath gets a re-trial too! I just wish the hoardes of sheeple that read such trash (Woman’s Day, No Idea), would actually question some of the untrue drivell they are supposed and expected to believe. So sick of the these trash mags being judge , jury and executioner. Wake up people!! It could be you one day?
