Almost half of Screen Australia’s successful productions are led by females, says CEO Fiona Cameron
Screen Australia’s Fiona Cameron, the organisation’s chief operating officer, said 47% of successful production funding applications from Screen Australia have come from female-led creative teams over the last two years.
The comments come as Screen Australia unveils a 17 person Gender Matters Taskforce, and moves towards its Gender Matters key performance indicator requiring female-led projects to make up 50% of successful funding applications by the 2018-19 year.

I really hope this figure just happens to be 50% and isn’t an indication that Screen Australia is prioritising female lead productions.
According to your nice pie chart there, it’s majority men (and by a long mile) in creative roles. If 50% of the successful projects are women, it either means they are doing it better than the men (yay!), or Screen Australia are prioritising female lead productions (even if there are ‘better’* projects from a male lead team)..
Not sure about you, but I’d rather the ‘better’* production get’s through regardless of the gender of the team applying.
*Better? Yes, I’m not sure what this means either..
