Almost half of Australia is watching Nine’s Olympics coverage
Close to half the country has already tuned into Nine’s coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with 10.7 million Aussies catching the action so far.
Coverage of Day 1 (up until 2am) saw Nine’s metro broadcast reach 5.4 million people; 2.4 million in regional Australia and 2.3 million people on 9Now.
The free-to-air broadcast of the Opening Ceremony, together with the coverage of Day 1 of competition, secured a National Total TV Reach of 10.477 million across Channel 9, 9Gem and 9Now.
Disappointed with the Channel 9 coverage. There are way too many ads and I haven’t seen a medal ceremony yet. They do lots of promotions of the well known athletes. I want to know about the athletes in every sport. Give us more info on them.
Woeful Olympic coverage this year, plagued with technical issues, staff strikes, absent commentary, irrelevant shots of sidelines and unreliable connectivity. Perhaps there are only so many people watching because there is no alternative.
Another reason is that there are repeats of repeats of repeats on the other FTA channels.
The much maligned Eddie McGuire is doing a great job interviewing the Olympians. He asks some great questions. I also think the pairing of Ally Langdon with James Bracey is great and they trump Karl and Sara.
Enjoying the coverage except for the number of a adverts
One suggestion is to have a section of medal ceremonies for aussies as they cut off after the highlights and their is no way to go back and see the presentations.

Epic coverage, think we take it for granted to have access to all that content over the last two weeks.
