Amanda Gome to take helm of Financial Review Group titles
Former Crikey publisher Amanda Gome has bounced back from her dismissal as boss of Private Media to take on a new role at Fairfax Media’s Financial Review Group.
Gome will be publisher of BRW, Smart Investor and Asset Magazine. Her appointment will lead to a delay in the relaunch of BRW magazine while she gets to grips with her new brief, the company said.
Gome was axed by the board of Private Media last month. As well as Crikey, Private Media also publishes Smart Company and Women’s Agenda.
FRG’s CEO Brett Clegg announced the new role. He said in the statement: “Amanda has an extraordinary track record in building brands that resonate across all media and meet audience and advertiser needs. We are thrilled that she is available to join our team to drive our brands more aggressively in the digital age.
Amazing how Fairfax keeps loading up its overheads. It’s no wonder the shareholders are spitting chips. Hate to think what has happened to the p+l of f this business what with the absence of ads, dropoff in paid sales and cover prices and what look to be big budget hirings.
Today’s packer pr package will be poison in the audience.
Would have been easier to have just bought Business Spectator
I does indeed look like Fairfax is being managed to death. I read that the company has just had another multi-headed “consultancy” on its future. (Which apparently said they should not break it up!!!)
This must make about a dozen big consulting briefs in the past few years. And, like this one, they keep adding expensive execs to the top layer while supposedly cutting costs aggressively.
