Amazon reboots Packed to the Rafters as its first original Australian drama
Amazon Prime Video is bringing back a rejigged Packed to the Rafters, announcing ‘Back to the Rafters’ as its first Amazon Original scripted drama commission in Australia.
Back to the Rafters will launch on Prime Video in Australia with original cast members Rebecca Gibney, Erik Thomson, Jessica Marais, Hugh Sheridan, Angus McLaren, Michael Caton and George Houvardas, as well as being shown in 200 countries around the world.

The whole Rafter family are coming back to Amazon
It’s not hard to wonder why there’s a whole generation that only watch youtube and Netflix with programmers consistently digging up ancient species from the glory days of ratings.
There must be dozens of new and original scripts being shopped around that more deserve the funding required to revive this schlock.
Yeah Stuart!
Those dinosaur TV stations – no idea. Fancy resurrecting Packed to the Rafters. No wonder people are flocking to streaming services.
Hang on …
Doesn’t it say that it is Amazon ‘rebooting’ Packed to the Rafter? Isn’t it a streaming service? Just let me check their original content slate. Well that didn’t take long.
How good is original thinking?
Getting tired of unconscious racism in Australian content.
Australia no longer looks like this!
Masterchef gets it.
This is gonna bomb because it was 10 years outta date in 2008, but a generation outta date now.
