Curious goings on at ABC1 last night with a live promo for Q&A crashing to air early enough to catch the punchline to the warm-up guy’s joke.
Considering it was “an 85-year-old Sudanese woman”, Dr Mumbo suspects the powers that be must be mighty relieved it didn’t arrive any earlier than that.

Maybe Qantas could run a Twitter contest to produce the best joke to fit the punchline?

Sounds to me like he is commenting on one of the male members of the panel, and that under the makeup he is really an 85 year old Sudanese woman…

@Craig, I think you are spot on.
I was there. Can’t remember word for word but it was, as Craig guessed, something about how good the makeup is. He said something like “these makeup guys are really good; in fact they’re so good that underneath all that Tony Jones is actually an 85 year old Sudanese woman”.
Far from the powers that be being relieved that this didn’t cut in any earlier, I think it was actually the worst possible moment you could have broken into that joke…
