I’m all for funny CVs, but this is kind of more jerk-ish than funny. Sure some similar-minded employer would eat it up though, says a lot about the both of them.

if i get one more email saying “i’m really creative. have you got any jobs?” i’m going to tear my hair out. if all else fails they could always buy my book ‘The Swashbucklers Guide to Becoming an Astronaut’ which just happens to have lots of tips on how to get a job in ‘The Industry’… 🙂

And he can spell! I recently received a CV from an eager young lady who, at the tender age of 18, was already an “experienced waitress and barrister”. Impressive, I thought.

WOW the best resume I have read in a long time! Even though I’m a grad who is lucky enough to have an amazing job, I wish I had the guts to rewrite my resume like that……!
He comes over as a sunny-natured, slightly left-field but not at all poncey.

What’s totally charming about this resume is that there’s a real human being behind it. And with anecdotal references like ‘alright I guess’ he’s creatively telling us how ordinary he is. That’s unexpected and bloody funny. It’s also relevant because the majority of work in this industry is selling ordinary products. I guess one guy uses a sandwich board, while another uses self-effacing humour. There must be an agency out there with the smarts, instinct and sense of creative adventure, to hire both of them and put them together.
I have to agree with Ross (comment 2) about the underlying jerk-factor. He’s simply trying too hard to be witty: overt sarcasm, self-deprecation, references to current and former pop culture favourites – it all becomes a bit repetitive and predictable in the end.
It’s like his primary goal was for it to become a viral sensation, rather than a tool to legitimately find a job. If that’s the case, then I guess he’s succeeded, somewhat.
In saying that, I appreciate the left-of-centre approach to resume writing. It made me realise how dull mine actually is.
I hate to say it cos it’s a pretty good CV but so many people these days don’t know the difference between “I would have…” and “I would of” and for a copywriter I think he better work it out soon…
A funny way to end the week. So often you receive CV’s saying how ‘creative’ someone is. I think this guy is really comfortable taking the piss out of himself, which is a good attitude to have in this industry. You’ll need a thick skin sometimes, and it sounds like he’s got it.
No doubt he’ll be employed this time next week.

Creative CVs are fine, but all I get from this one is that Nick can make a good coffee.
Maybe work on the band and traffic angles a little…
I’m pretty sure that there are at least 5-8 legally actionable claims made in this CV.

Did you guys get lost and mistake this for the Campaign Brief website? I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess it’s not David Droga or Matt Eastwood on here leaving the bitchy comments. So the CV isn’t your cup of tea (or coffee)? And?

that ‘s taken dry information and made it mildly amusing and easy to consume. TICK.
It’s obviously not a Pulitzer but I don’t think that’s the intent.
Interesting CV but I think he needs to stick to making coffees. I’ve come across cocky upstart types like him in the past and all they succeed to do is anger people. Looking at this CV more objectively, there are no timelines on it, it says he has worked at over 50 places (was he fired a lot?), his only industry experience is at Clemenger and even his work here was confined to basic administrative duties.
