Animated neanderthals beat sci-fi in weekend box office
DreamWorks family film The Croods and Gerard Butler starrer Olympus Has Fallen both edged out sci-fi blockbuster Oblivion at the Australian box office over the weekend.
According to figures from the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia, The Croods took $2,049,768 across 399 screens averaging $5,137 per screen.
But the Roadshow-distributed Olympus Has Fallen had the highest average of the weekend, making $8,379 per screen across 230 screens taking a total of $1,927,213.
