Anyone heard of the new ad agency called Gazetted?
Dr Mumbo thought he had stumbled across a new advertising agency after contacting a Government department to confirm which agency was handling the digital switchover campaign.
When told that the agency was called “Gazetted” an already sceptical Dr Mumbo could find no references to any such agency online.
Another call into the press officer to query their initial claim was met with this shamefaced admission via email:
Sorry about the confusion.
The agency has been gazetted and it included in the annual report (it is not called Gazetted).
The agency is BMF.”
Well, they got there in the end. In the meantime, if anyone’s looking to launch a new agency Dr Mumbo hears that the name Gazetted is still up for grabs.
Dr Mumbo may need a crash course in how Governments make announcements.
They’re referring to the announcement being in the Government Gazette. That is, the announcement has been “gazetted.”
Hi Anon/ Duncan,
Dr Mumbo may not have been clear enough in the piece above.
We asked them the name of the agency, and Gazetted was the one word reply they sent to us. They didn’t say that it had been gazetted.
So yes, they copied from a document somewhere internally that the agency had been gazetted.
It was only when we queried it that the above answer was sent.
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
That’s cool, but now you need a crash course in short form writing? 😉
Well, that’s your opinion Anonymous_Coward – and by all means we welcome all feedback.
Perhaps Dr Mumbo should have included the line from the press officer’s previous email rather than paraphrasing – so as to have avoided any confusion.
So for the record, in the original email the press officer states:
“The name of the agency in (sic) provided in the Department’s annual report. The agency is called Gazetted.”
Cheers,
Mumbrella – Camille
I thought the 😉 would of indicated friendly sarcasm Camille.
