‘At least Four Corners’ laboured hatchet job got one thing right – the Seven Network is diabolical’: Ovadia lashes out at ‘evil’ former employer

Robert Ovadia has lashed out at former employer Seven, calling the network ‘evil’, blaming them for a death threat, and sharing positive testimonials from former female colleagues on social media.
UPDATE: Seven Network responds to Ovadia’s comments
Ovadia posted the statements of support on Instagram alongside a loaded missive on Tuesday.
“Feel free to scroll through a few recent interactions with women I’ve worked with,” Ovadia wrote, “vs Seven’s Propaganda Unit intent on scaring me away from court – and a consequential death threat. I’ll expect more smear over the coming months as this evil company (in whose service I risked my life and safety many times) now seeks to destroy my reputation further.
“I can be crass, I can be blunt, I can be obnoxious, my humour is dark – 20 years surrounded by trauma and danger will do all of that to you – but I do NOT mistreat women. When this kicked off, the day Seven first leaked this story, my teenage daughter asked if people will think her dad is a rapist. At least Four Corners’ laboured hatchet job got one thing right – the Seven Network is diabolical.”
Ovadia was sacked by the Seven network following allegations of “inappropriate conduct”.
The crime reporter then hired high-profile lawyer John Laxon, who confirmed a wrongful dismissal suit against both the Seven Network and Anthony De Ceglie has been filed.
During the first day of Ovadia’s unlawful dismissal case in the Federal Court last week, Seven’s barrister Vanja Bulut said since the network sacked the journalist in June, “13 more females have come forward with complaints in relation to his conduct”.
Ovadia said in a statement following the hearing: “The claims are baseless and Seven has never provided evidence despite repeated requests. Even today, no evidence to support any of this.”
