Australian newspaper industry strengthens environmental credentials

The Australian newspaper industry continues to lead the environmental charge with the latest report on old newsprint recovery by the Publishers National Environmental Bureau (PNEB) showing 78% of Australia’s newspapers are recycled every day, compared with 75% in the USA.

The Australian newspaper industry continues to lead the environmental charge with the latest report on old newsprint (ONP) recovery by the Publishers National Environmental Bureau (PNEB) showing 78% of Australia’s newspapers are recycled every day, compared with 75% in the USA*.

In addition, exports of recycled newspapers have almost doubled in the past decade from 27% to 52% according to the report, which was conducted by Industry Edge for the PNEB (part of The Newspaper Works).
