The Australian snatches syndication of The Economist from AFR

News Corp’s broadsheet The Australian has signed a new syndication deal with international news and business publication The Economist.

The new deal – which will see articles from The Economist republished in The Oz – ends the British publication’s previous arrangement with Fairfax Media’s The Australian Financial Review.

A spokesperson for The AFR said suggested The Australian had overpaid, telling Mumbrella: “We provide our readers with high-quality global news from the Financial Times, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Harvard Business Review and Bloomberg. Apparently, others are seeking to pay above the odds in order to compete with our syndicated offerings.”
