Australian Story’s look at sexist government culture watched by 634,000 metro viewers

An impressive 634,000 metro viewers watched former Labor minister Kate Ellis unpack years of her career spent in Canberra and the deeply sexist culture that she experienced within the government on ABC’s Australian Story.

Ellis spent 15 years as part of the Rudd and Gillard governments, and the latest episode of the ABC program called ‘Chamber of Silence’ revealed the ‘mind warfare’ at play, and during which she described Canberra as being at “crisis point”.

The program was the latest in a series of television specials that have aired since former Liberal Party staffer Brittany Higgins alleged sexual assault by a colleague in parliament house, including a Four Corners report last week.
