Australia’s Got Talent winner announcement just shy of 1.4m
The announcement of Uncle Jed as winners of Australia’s Got Talent brought just under 1.4m metro viewers to Channel Nine last night.
Sydney based family trio Laura, Danny and Shannon Stitt were announced the overall winners of the $250,000 prize to an audience of 1.391m, according to preliminary overnight ratings from OzTam.
Their win followed performances of the remaining 12 finalists as well as AGT judges Geri Haliwell and Timomatic. The 90 minute show averaged 1.166m, ranking fourth for the night below Nine’s 60 Minutes and Seven News.
Meanwhile Seven’s Dancing with the Stars averaged 1.075m and was sixth in all programs.
This is the first year Channel Nine has aired Australia’s Got Talent, produced by Fremantle Media, since it picked it up from Seven in October last year. Ratings have been consistently lower than Seven’s The X Factor, and averaged over 1m for the first time last week following the final of The X Factor. The X Factor winner announcement averaged 2.43m.
Ratings picked up for Ten’s new topical comedy quiz show Have You Been Paying Attention? as the show quietly launched to 301,000 metro viewers last week and averaged 420,000 at 7pm last night.
Channel Ten’s strongest performer was Elementary, with an average 692,000 viewers, while Seven premiered its comedy special Just For Laughs to 561,000.
Seven dropped Sunday Night to broadcast the show, featuring Gruen host Wil Anderson as he travels up the California coast to the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival and interviews Australian comedians along the way.
Nine won the night with over 24 per cent of the audience share, while Seven had just over 20 per cent. And Ten had the third largest share of the audience on Sunday with 12.1 per cent.
