Barnardos Australia searches for the Mother of the Year

Child protection charity Barnardos Australia has launched a campaign to promote its search for the Barnados Mother of the Year.

The animated commercial, produced by Purpose Agency, poses the question of how to thank an awesome mum. The 30-second spot provides some imaginative responses to its own question, but ends with the suggestion of nominating her as Barnardos Mother of the Year, ending with the clincher “It won’t cost anything but what you say will mean everything”.

Dan Mercer, Creative Director at Purpose Agency said in a statement: “We all know that mum’s deserve much more than just Mothers Day, so we saw a unique opportunity to position Barnardos Mother of the Year as the ultimate thanks.

“And viewing this concept through the lens of a child resulted in the manifestation of a fantastical and highly exaggerated world where, while incredible, still couldn’t possibly be enough to say thanks. In fact, a true meaningful and heartfelt thank you comes in the form of a nomination—and that costs nothing at all.”

The spot integrates the charity’s refreshed branding and green colour palette and aims to engage with the female market.

Barnardos Mother of the Year was introduced in 1994.
