Baz Luhrmann tours India

The Australian director has painted a dance-themed mural on the wall of a Mumbai hotel with Archibald Prize winner Vincent Fantauzzo, and will meet with Bollywood royalty to discuss potential projects.

According to an Indian publication, Luhrmann’s ‘dream’ is to make a film in India, and will have dinner tonight with Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan and his family (which includes his equally famous son Abhishek and his daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai).

DNA claims Luhrmann recently met with Oscar winner composer A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire), whom the newspaper says he calls a ‘friend’ and ‘maestro’.

The report speculated about the content of those meetings and about Luhrmann’s admiration of ‘how much Bollywood offered in a single movie’.
