Beaurepaires postpones $10m media review
Beaurepaires has postponed its media review until March, Mumbrella understands.
The Melbourne-based tyre retailer, which sells brands including Dunlop and Goodyear, has also expanded the scope of the review to include New Zealand as well as Australia.
The review was called in October last year, but the rethink has put the pitch on ice for now, a source informed Mumbrella.
However, Beaurepaires marketing director Jaime Hardley did not confirm the news and declined to comment.
A Beaurepaires spokesman said: “We are not rushing the process, and we are ensuring the review is thorough and exhaustive to make certain we have the best result for the business. All proposals are also by invite only.”
Beaurepaires is also undergoing a review of its marketing team, but this is not a factor in the delayed appointment of a media agency.
The company added: “The organisation is continually reviewing ways to enhance our market leadership and ensure long-term value and success. The recent internal reorganisation of marketing roles and responsibilities was to improve our focus on the customer and go to market strategies. It does not have any direct influence on the external media review.”
Starcom and Ikon are believed to the agencies originally in contention for the business, which is currently held by Mitchell & Partners.
The headline should read: “Beaurepaires puts the brakes on its $10 media review”
Well done Wayne.
That would be a very tyre-ed headline.
It seems the media review has lost traction
Get a grip guys!
They mustn’t have had a good year….
No beau found
They might be suffering from burnout.
Or waiting for creatives to come up with some slick ideas.
Looks like they’re beating a hasty retread
Not much tread left in this conversation
On the contrary, I think there’s a few miles left.
All the agencies involved must be feeling terribly deflated. They’re probably all jack of it.
I wonder who’ll be in the next rotation?
The conversation is flat
I am tired of this tyre thread…
Beaurepairs do offer up a few more words in their very useful Glossary of Tyre Terms though:

Seems like they need a steering committee to guide in their decision.
CAR PUN
The pressure must be on!
this is wheely bad
My wheel failed during the race, so I had to retire
All these puns have left me deflated.
I have an axle to grind over the way this has been handled…
loving the tireless efforts for creating puns here
Them’s the brakes.
Mitchells keeping low profile.
I got confused, I thought you said pump up the YouTube?!! I know how to do that!
Sorry, here is the inner tube.
