Beauty and the Geek debuts with under 1m but wins 8:30pm slot

Beauty and the Geek Australia returned to Seven last night with 927,000 viewers, according to preliminary metro ratings from OzTam.

The 90-minute show which ran from 8:30 sees physically attractive men and women – the Beauties – teamed up with highly intelligent but socially stunted men and women – the Geeks – in a quest to win a $100,000 prize.

It won the time slot beating Hamish and Andy’s Gap Year on Nine, Rush on Ten and Crownies on ABC1.

The audience for Gap Year, which featured a live performance by British band Coldplay, was up on last week by 26,000 to 850,000.
