Ben Fordham steps back from radio until 2020 to spend time with ill father
2GB host Ben Fordham has stepped back from his drive-time show for the rest of the year, to spend time with his father who is battling throat cancer.
Fordham shared the news on-air with his listeners yesterday afternoon, explaining that yesterday or today’s show would be his last until next year. Nine, whose takeover of 2GB’s Macquarie Media is set to be completed by the end of the year, understands that Fordham will host this afternoon’s show.

good on him. I hope he takes all the time he needs
I recently lost my father. My only regret is I didn’t spend more time with him when I had the chance. I’m sure Ben’s love for his father is the best medicine his father can get.
Ben g’day. I have had the fortune of working with your father for many years at Qantas both in Head Office and in the America’s Region.
Your father has been in the forefront of Aviation PR as well in the company he formed after leaving Charlie Q.
Fordo as he was known by all his colleagues was very proud of his family and the achievements of his children.
Your father made an excellent and most memorable speech when he accepted the role of Chairman of the Team that managed Qantas in the America’s Region during the 70s at the 04 July 2019 lunch at Ian & Gabriel’s Settler Arms Hotel .
Best
