Big Brother live evictions no match for The X Factor
Big Brother’s first Tuesday live eviction show did not budge Seven’s ratings winner The X Factor last night.
Due to Nine’s broadcast of the NRL grand final, no live eviction happened on Sunday’s Big Brother, which took place on Tuesday night instead.
In the first head-to-head of the two shows’ live 7.30pm episodes, the singing competition won the night in total viewers and two of three key ad demographics.
While the X Factor rated 1.471m in total viewers, according to preliminary ratings from OzTam, Big Brother’s eviction show rated 1.056m and its daily show rated 1.027m. The figures are similar to last Sunday’s eviction show, which rated 1.013m, and 1.02m the Sunday before.
Anyone surprised?
One show is rubbish and the other is quality well made entertainment.
why do you focus so much on BB’s performance in your ratings report each day?
Big Brother was number 1 against P18-39 which Nine would argue is their key demo for this program… it would also be a key demo for X Factor, which came 3rd behind BB and Big Bang

It is Nine’s flagship program of the second half of 2012 in a time when Nine’s performance is crucial given the fierce competition between itself and Seven (not to mention Nine’s sticky debt situation).
If X Factor was on six nights a week there would no doubt be considerable focus on its performance in the daily ratings reports too, but it is only on twice a week.
Like it or hate it, everyone is very interested to see how Big Brother will do as it is one of the largest risks in Australian TV this year.
Hats off, as sad as this may seem, as a 38-year old man, I love the X-Factor.

The difference is if Xfactor was on 6 nights a week it would be entertaining. BB is not so why focus on it so much.Wait for another two weeks when Gangnam style is featured. ratings will go through the roof!!
Xfactor is crap everybody cannot be superstars or have a career in entertainment.sorry its just rubbish

Entertaining or boring (which is of course subjective – there are plenty of people loving BB this year even among the many that consider it rubbish) it is still Nine’s key program at the moment as X Factor is for Seven. Mumbrella is a news site and isn’t going to leave a certain program out of its ratings report because some or even all readers don’t find its content entertaining. The difference between Mumbrella and say TV Week is that one reports on the TV industry and the other reports on what’s on-screen.
I have barely watched BB this year as I too find it boring but I regularly check in here to see how its live shows rate out of sheer curiosity as to how this one’s going to pay off for Nine.
Can anyone explain to me how Paul Henry is still given air time in Australia??
In fact why does Australia give air time to people like Henry & Alan Jones who are so wrong it’s unreal. The closest thing we have in the UK is Jeremy Clarkson, but at least he knows a little about cars.
