Binge aired a show about a drag queen… but with all its gay references erased
The arrival of June brings Pride Month and to celebrate, Foxtel’s streaming service Binge debuted a fabulous new series – minus most of the glitter.
The long-awaited arrival of Trixie Motel, which sees drag queen Trixie Mattel and partner David Silver renovate a run-down Palm Springs motor-in, left fans of the RuPaul’s Drag Race alum disappointed by a very unusual version shown.

Not a single gay thing to see in Binge’s new show.
Distributors edit content all the time. Ever watched any show ever in the Middle East or Africa?
Funny when the version that has already aired on Foxtel was the unedited version.
It’s common to have ‘international versions’ of these types of programs and likely the version that Binge was (potentially incorrectly) provided was intended for a market where sadly LGBTQ+ people are criminalised. Plenty more questions about why the distributer would be (allegedly) willing to modify this content in the first place… but feels like BINGE simply got the file and uploaded it. It would be a simple mistake to not realise that the episode provided had the themes of Trixie and David’s relation omitted without playing the USA version and International version side-by-side. If the above is correct, feels like BINGE need to issue an ‘on the record’ statement ASAP. But perhaps then puts blame onto international partner? Sticky situation.
I get the urge to poke fun with Dr Mumbo but this seems like a fuck-up on the behalf of Binge for not asking questions on why they had a censored file?
