Birds of Prey flies straight to the top of the Australian box office, taking almost $4m in its first weekend

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) has shot straight to the top of the Australian box office after its first weekend of release, taking $3.850m across 528 screens.

The film, starring Margot Robbie as the titular Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Ella Jay Basco, Ali Wong, and Ewan McGregor, was written by Christina Hodson and directed by Cathy Yan.
