Bondi Hipsters respond to Old Spice’s ‘Mom song’ with ditty about Dom’s manliness
Old Spice has recruited the ‘Bondi Hipsters’ to present an Australian take on the brand’s ‘Mom song‘ used in the US to market the brand.
The Bondi Hipsters, Christiaan Van Vuuren and Nick Boshier who play hipsters Dom and Adrian, sing to Dom’s mum’s about how he’s a man now capable of tying his own shoes and who has his own Medicare card.
Dom and Adrian sing their farewell about Dom moving out of home before explaining where his manliness came from. The answer – Old Spice.
Old Spice brand manager Rachael Read said: “We are thrilled to release ‘Man Song’, a locally created music video, inspired by viral Old Spice ad ‘Mom Song’, today. The unique tension point between mums and their sons as they transition from boyhood to manhood proved rich creative territory for us. By bringing this to life creatively with the Bondi Hipsters we were able to remind guys of how Old Spice can help them navigate this unique journey in a fun, shareable and uniquely Australian way.”
Hausmann Communications is the creative and PR agency for the campaign.
The video is a response to Old Spice’s ‘Mom song’ which features mothers singing about how Old Spice turned their baby boys into men.

Van Vuuren and Boshier broke through via YouTube in 2012, and were the face of online fashion site The Iconic in 2013 before having a TV show on ABC.
Pretty good. I watched the hipsters one, couldn’t sit through the original American one.
Sensational … but does it still smell like ‘old man spice’?
What a pile of hipster shite.
Seriously, I don’t get these guys or anything they’ve ever done.
Hmmm – weren’t Bondi Hipsters, like, 3 years ago?
Yeah…gotta love the Aussie version. Dom’s mum looks like she couldn’t care less if Dom was moving out. In fact, I’m sure she was happy about it.
Whereas the American mums (I refuse to use “mom”) look decidedly freaky…more stalkers than mothers.
Wondering when the complaints will come rolling in because of the lack of helmets.
No matter how good their ads get(and they have been good for a while) the product is putrid shite which younger buyers will continue to think of as grandads smelly stuff
time for a new idea
Yay this could mean no more Old Spice Robot expect this was filmed in Austrlia and not in the Canada or the USA so this might mean the end of the robot since it was filmed in the USA
These guys certainly aren’t Terry Crews or Isaiah Mustafa those guys can’t be beat but it’s a lot better than some of these past commercials like the moms crying in a tree the mom song and the mom in the bowl alley the thing that the balls are the Old Spice Hair commercials were not great but okay but the Robot commercials for Old Spice was among the most bizarre and stupidest old spice commercial I’ve ever seen!
Anyone got any spare punctuation for Tyler? It appears he has run out.
What????
I did notice Tyler use a solitary exclamation mark, so there’s still hope…
Love it.
