Bran Nue Dae screened at apology anniversary
The Albury-Wodonga Indigenous community commemorated the second anniversary of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s apology to the stolen generations with a screening of Rachel Perkins’ hit musical.
“The movie celebrates Aboriginal culture and is based on a true story,” said Joanne Taylor, a home counsellor at the community’s Aboriginal Health Service.
The Border Mail reports that the screening was a joint effort between this organisation and the Mungabareena Aboriginal Association in Wodonga, and it attracted 350 people in the NSW/Victoria border area.
I have a proposal for a new idea that is original totally australian in concept and will have the additional benafit of bringing together indiginous australian culture
with all other ethnic groups in a celebration of Australia that will enhance the meaning of australia day celebrations for all of us. I make it plain that i hold the intelectual copyright to this idea. This will go on to become the annual australian day celebration that identifies what it means to be an Aussie. Not one based on
colour or ethnic groupings. I lok forward to hearing from you soon
