Buzzfeed to axe 15% of staff across the company
Buzzfeed will make a 15% reduction in staff across its business in a bid to reduce costs and improve its operating model, CEO Jonah Peretti has announced.
In a note sent to staff on Wednesday afternoon in the US, Peretti said the business would commence “layoffs” from next week. Buzzfeed has declined to comment on how this will impact the Australian market.
How about having the decency to not run this article until the actual impact is known for BF here in Australia? Until then, it’s not news.
Hi Daniel,
I disagree that it’s ‘not news’. Local Buzzfeed staff are talking about this on various social media platforms, and when pushed multiple times on the local impact/ implications/ numbers, Buzzfeed refused to comment. Perhaps they are unable to at this moment, or perhaps they never will, but they wouldn’t say “This does not impact our Australian office” as they have in the past.
If you think it’s not news, or that it’s not decent, might I suggest you move along and don’t read it, as others across the publishing industry are very interested in this on both a global, and local, level.
Thanks,
Vivienne – Mumbrella
Yeah Viv, get ’em.
Buzzfeed is still going?
so even the digital native publishers are struggling to come up with a digital business model that works…..
