CatchOfTheDay launches deals site for mums – Mumgo
Scoopon owner CatchOfTheDay has launched a deals website targeting mothers called Mumgo.com.au.
The site – which goes live at 10am today – promises mums between 30% and 70% off retail prices, with time limited deals called ‘shopping events’ rather than daily deals.
Deals will run for one to three days before being replaced.
The site is the fifth deals site in the CatchOfTheDay portfolio, which includes Scoopon, catchoftheday.com.au, groceryrun.com.au and vinomofo.com. This is the first site from CatchOfTheDay built around a lifestyle rather than category specific products.
Hmm, wonder if they know that it’s very close to the term used by Union Players to describe League Players? Mungo, as in prehistoric cave man Mungo Man whose remains were found at lake Mungo New South Wales.. It’s what I thought of straight away but I’m neither a Mungo or a Mumgo so it probably doesn’t matter… Maybe they’re doing a spin off group for League Players and/or Cave men called Mungo! Now that’s got legs….
Definitely not the first website of its kind! There must be at least 6 pre existing deal sites dedicated to mum and bubs daily deals or ” shopping events”
Clients now really dislike sites that splitting themselves into 10 folds to niche the products that could equally be sold out of the original 1 site. People hate 100 emails a day and hence are switching to get consolidated emails from deals aggregators like us at dealsfix.com where you can get all the deals. This is “niching” is just not sustainable..
