Cattle station to be marketed as The Ultimate Toy
An unorthodox digital marketing campaign is getting under way to sell an outback cattle station as a millionaire’s plaything.
Ahead of the auction next month of the 2000 sq km MacDonald Downs, north east of Alice Springs, the owners are attempting to use social media to present it as “the ultimate toy”.
Sydney agency Relativity has created a website and digital marketing campaign to promote the boys’ toys potential of playing with a farm that includes quad bikes, a lengthy road train and a helicopter, along with 5,000 head of cattle. The accompanying ad campaign promotes it as a destination for the millionaire looking for their next $12m plaything.
As well as the Ultimate Toy website, the campaign is being backed by a Facebook Group, Twitter profile and online ads suggesting the farm is the ideal acquisition for the jaded millionaire who already has a jet and yacht.
The property is owned by Charlie Chalmers and former Clemenger staffer Sonja Chalmers.
Charlie Chalmers said: “There are potential investors out there who wouldn’t ever see the usual channels used to promote the sale of properties like this, and we want to find them and encourage them to consider both the business side of owning a cattle station and the lifestyle side of it.
“I think something like a cattle station is the ultimate toy.”
It’s just like a toy farmyard, only BIGGER!
Insane
They should sell it to the producers of Survivor as a permanent setting for the series.
I am exhausted already. Can’t believe how much fun and excitement I could have. To think that no-one has snapped it up yet. Imagine the socialising when friends fly 7 hours in a dodgy plane and then to pop round to ride the bike with you. When you ride the willy willy that knocks down your house and the insurers knock back your claim. When snakes eat the dog…. ohh the frivolity !
I want one
All of that effort – and they still couldn’t name the images before loading them to the site?

Would be nice to see all the finishing touches applied …
Anyone want to go halves?
Thank you very much for the comments.
Theo: I love your suggestion and it made me laugh.
Tired already: It’s for an adventurer, looking for a challenge, I’m not sure your scenario is plausible, though take up the challenge and you might find it a fantastic life. Michelle: Thanks I found a couple of images unnamed and I have fixed those, so thank you for letting us know.
Virgil…
Well done for checking in Virgil, and thanks for the response. 🙂
The ‘free range beef bbq’ images have shades of Wolf Creek.
Heidi
You are right. Though confronting the reality of beef not contained in Styrofoam and Wrap may be ‘refreshingly close’ to source, I am assured by members of the Relativity Crew who went to the station, that it is the best tasting BBQ they have ever had. As well as to the locals who are all extremely friendly and not a John Jarrat amongst them.
I mean John Jarrat’s character in Wolf Creek of course and not John.
