Celebrity Splash finds a decent audience
Celebrity Splash may have been derided by the critics, but its debut was a hit for the Seven network last night, with a capital city audience of 1.315m according to preliminary overnight ratigns from OzTAM.
The show – fronted by Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies – saw celebrities such as Brynne Edelsten and Housos creator Pauly Fenech take part in a diving contest.
The show was the fourth most watched on free to air television last night.
Wow 1.315 million brain dead zombies watched bad “Reality” TV…nice work Seven Network..
I saw about 5mins of it and detected the Chlorine fumes coming through my television which was affecting my brain so decided to turn it off. Will probably keep it that way if Seven don’t pull their heads in.
When will they air the next bunch of How I Met Your Mother eps (at a late airing time because Seven programming jesters don’t seem to put it earlier)
Please, just read a book.
This is the result of the rating game. If all that you need is numbers, then go for the lowest common denominator and you will win every time.
It is near impossible to get people interested in haute couture when they are comfortable in tracksuits and moccasins, difficult to serve haute cuisine to a group who are addicted to corned beef and cabbage.
My great fear is that the addiction to numbers will eventually leave us with footy and reality romps. News will be a ribbon of headlines and a few sensationalist video clips, and films will be violent action movies and soft porn love stories.
All this linked together with back to back infomercials and ads in cliche and mono syllables.
Richard, that’s why we pirate our TV. If I’m going to be treated like a moron by the major networks, I’m not going to give them any bloody time.
