Chaser makes subdued ratings return but even State of Origin can’t stop MasterChef

The Chaser’s War On Everything made a muted return to the ABC last night, with many viewers opting for State of Origin rugby on Nine instead.  

The show – which was taken off the air for two episodes following the infamous dying kids sketch – scored an average of just under 1.2m viewers, according to preliminary ratings data from OzTam. This was about the same as last time the show aired – which was also a State of Origin night.

But the game didn’t dent the near-1.9m audience of Ten’s MasterChef which was still on air when the game kicked off. It was the second largest weekday audience of the series.
