The Checkout launches to 716,000 ahead of Seven’s Dynamo and The Biggest Loser
ABC1’s The Checkout managed 716,000 for its launch against The Block’s 1.102m for Channel Nine, preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam show.
While The Block won the night with 1.1m viewers, and a further 858,000 for The Block Unlocked which followed from 8:30pm, the delayed showing of Sherlock in all capital cities but Perth, where it has already aired, could pull just 303,000 viewers in the 9:10pm timeslot.
However, the British detective drama was the second most time-shifted show of last week gaining an extra 119,000 viewers across the week, a 34.9 per cent increase in viewership. The Block was the most shifted show with 140,000 extra views.
The Biggest Loser again saw its numbers shrink for Ten, getting 355,000 between 7:30pm and 8:30pm after getting 394,000 on the same night last week. The show was also only time shifted by 45,000 people, the consolidated ratings show.
Good on ’em.
It’s a good show but Julian Morrow really overacts in those little sketches.
it is quite clear that Sunrise is the runaway winner this year with Sam.
Great to be working for the ABC and not have to worry about such trifling matters as ratings or advertising.
What a life.
I’m not sure why the Ten Network wanted to launch the Biggest Loser at the same time they knew they were going to broadcast the Olympics. It’s programming suicide and has damaged the Biggest Loser brand, and will lose Ten viewers even after the Olympics have finished.
I found the first episode of season two a major disappointment. That first segment with Julian Morrow was so long and unfunny. Appreciate the show isn’t trying to be The Chaser/Hamster Wheel but it was kind of hard to watch.
Craig Reucassel rescued things at the end a little but hoping they can strike a better balance for the remainder of the series.
